Finally the FIFA World Cup 2022 is all set to kick-off on 21 November, 2022 in Qatar. For the first time ever in the history of FIFA World Cup, a Middle East Country is hosting the Cup and both fans and tourists alike has been flying in to Qatar to witness the football extravaganza.

FIFA World Cup 2022

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is all set to return this fall as the 22nd running of the FIFA World Cup competition, the quadrennial international men’s football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. This year it is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. 32 teams contest with each other to emerge victorious and raise the Cup for their country. This FIFA World Cup 2022 can be noted for many of it’s specialities, namely –

  1. The first ever World Cup to be hosted in a Middle Eastern Country,
  2. The last World Cup to feature 32 Qualifying Teams (2026 onwards the Number of Qualifying Teams is to be increased to 48)
  3. First World Cup to take place in the month of November and December.

How to get the Tickets?

For getting the tickets, you can submit your application for the Random Selection Draw conducted by FIFA, until April 28, 12.00(Mid Day), Doha Time. Successful applicants who have won the Random Selection Draw will be notified of their ticket status from May 31 onwards. While submitting your application, you can either apply for tickets to individual matches, or for all the matches a particular team will play. There is also a way to reserve provisional tickets if your team advances to the knockout phase. Prices range from QAR 40 to QAR 70 for Individual Match Tickets to group matches and escalate through the knockout phase. Tickets for the championship final will cost around QAR 750 (Exclusive Category 4 Prices applicable only for Qatar Residents). The prices for Supporter Tickets, Conditional Supporter Tickets & the Four Stadium Ticket Series will vary.

 

The Venue – Qatar

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is being hosted in 5 cities of Qatar –

Al-Khor, Lusail, Doha, Al-Rayan, Al-Wakrah.

To contain the huge influx of fans and tourists, only people with tickets will be issued visas. The Hayya Card — a mandatory all-purpose identification card for the World Cup visitor. The Hayya Card (Hayya means “let’s go”) not only acts as an entry visa to Qatar but it must be presented — in addition to your ticket — to get into the stadium on match days.

All the 8 stadiums are within a 35-mile radius of Doha, and in fact, five of the eight stadiums are accessible via the Doha Metro (shuttle buses will take fans to the outlying stadiums).

Like any other country in the world, once you are in Qatar you should be aware of the Laws and Customs of the country.
